2. Montreal International Fireworks Competition – June 28th to August 2nd, 2014

This year marks the 30th edition of the well-celebrated event that lights up Montreal’s summer skies! These spectacular shows take place in Quebec’s largest theme park, La Ronde. More than 3 million spectators get together every year to gaze at the pyrotechnic displays; those who want to be close to the action observe from the grounds at La Ronde or the Jacques Cartier Bridge, while others line up along both sides of the St. Lawrence River. The opening ceremonies begin at 10pm on Saturday, June 28th. The countries competing are:

  • Italy – July 5th
  • Spain – July 12th
  • Canada – July 16th
  • United States – July 19th
  • France – July 23rd
  • Australia – July 26th

The closing ceremonies will take place on August 2nd with a tribute to Pink Floyd.

3. Calgary Stampede – July 4th to July 13th, 2014

It’s a wild festival that attracts cowboys, cowgirls, and city-dwellers alike! A flurry of different shows and events are on the agenda for people of all ages and interests. This historic event has been running every year since 1912, holding on to many of its winning traditions and introducing new and exciting features to its program from time to time. 4. Montreal Just for Laughs Festival – July 9th to July 28th, 2014

The festival offers themed shows, such as the very popular Nasty Show, and special acts by both new and well-seasoned favourite comedians. Some of the great highlights include:

5. Honda Celebration of Light – July 26th, July 30th, August 2nd, 2014

It is Vancouver, B.C.’s biggest event, a fireworks competition that attracts about 400,000 spectators to each one of those spectacular evenings. Every breathtaking display of light and colour produces an outbreak of ooh’s and aah’s from the watching crowd! Countries competing are:

  • July 26th – U.S.A.
  • July 30th – France
  • August 2nd – Japan
